Currently we are experimenting with an even newer technique in which robotic surgery is used to perform transanal surgery. Robotic-TAMIS or RTS was recently presented at the 2011 World Robotic Symposium in Miami. In January 2012, the world's first RTS resection of neoplasm was successfully performed by Drs. Parra-Davila, Atallah, and deBeche-Adams at the Global Robotics Institute in Celebration, FL. This novel approach has now been published.
